Honestly, all I can say right now is wow.  I hadn’t given The Dean’s List a real good listen before this release, and in an amazing show of flexibility, I’m kicking myself  hard in the back for not doing so sooner.  This Boston hip hop trio is aaaall talent, and I am HOOKED. These guys have it all: versatility, amazing lyrics, catchy beats, and the ability to pull off sunglasses without any sun.   Read the rest of this entry »

For one week, and one week only, New York City allows its streets to be flooded with music-hungry college students party hopping at every music venue on the island. I saw performances by Cat Caught Lark, White House Band, Neon Indian, Brenton Duvall, The Dean’s List, and more. Check out the pics for the good times.

I only got to go 2 nights of the week-long music festival, but it was well worth it and SO much fun! If you’re not familiar with CMJ Music Marathon, it’s an annual music festival held by CMJ (College Music Journal) with showcases all over NYC with every upcoming artist you want to listen to (and exclusive industry parties and panels). There were easily fifteen showcases I wanted to to hit up, but I could only see so much music before my ears melted off. Just kidding, I totally would’ve waited for my ears to melt off, but college beckoned me home. If you’re a college music industry student, music lover, college student, or city-slicker, I 100% recommend attending CMJ next year. It’s sooo much fun and such a good networking experience.

This was a sweeet lineup. Unfortunately, I missed Mike Stud, but I heard he was baller. The Dean’s List absolutely slaughtered the stage with a full live band. The sound was so full and amazing, and just made all their hits so much better. “Kardashian” was a pretty epic moment, as was “Dear Professor”. They really know how to hype up the crowd.

Na Palm also had a sick set – there was so much energy in his performance that you didn’t even have to know the songs to want to jump around and scream. And I think every girl there was a LOT more hyped up than the guys if you know what I mean…

The White Panda of COURSE was incredible. I don’t think the crowd stopped moving the whole time. If the Pandamonium tour hits your neck of the woods, I recommend it (if you’re down for a massive raging dance party).

Oh damn. This is hawt. The Dean’s List dropped a massive banger that is a totally different feel for them. It’s clubby, it’s dancey, the beat is cuhrazy.. I really love this one. My favorite part is probably the “Gulla Gulla Island” reference. Good Times. Good job.
